Presentation of the Landscape Art and Territorial Development projects by the MAG team - Marques de Aguiar, Architecture and Urban Planning.
Between 2019 and 2021, the Experimenta Paisagem project aimed to transform landscapes affected by recurring wildfires into areas for enjoyment through sharing, communication, and representation of their cultural and natural values. This simultaneous enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage was realized through the creation of two Landscape Art itineraries, Cortiçada and Linhas de Água, as a manifest change in the landscape of the Pinhal Interior in Portugal. The five contemporary artworks served to signal and enhance the geographical and cultural heritage of landscape locations by providing free and democratic access to the intensified cultural landscape experiences offered by these works.
The involvement of people and places, from the creation to the delivery of the works, is an instrument for long-term economic, community, and territorial development. Promoting the reconnection of communities with their territories opens up new perspectives for population retention and the development of heritage values.
